procrastination

How many times you have said that you´ll do something and it just remains in words, nothing happens, it stays as a simple wish. You see how the days, weeks, months, years go…. and you stay the same, you wish you did something…….but you´re still waiting for the right moment, for the perfection of your work, for that signal……

When you say you´ll do something a don´t do it has a negative impact in your self-steem & self confidence.

Procrastination is a way of self sabotage, it´s like a chronic disease, it can be very destructive, power killer, in fact a dreams killer.

There are some practical ways to overcome procratination and make things happen in your life, in your business.

6 Ways to Overcome Procrastination

1.- Let go perfectionism.- you´ll never be perfect in any way, if you´re waiting that your work is perfect, your idea is critic proof, the time is right or whatever you think is missing, you are trying to be perfect and this is absolutely IMPOSIBLE. Go and start with what you have, you can always make changes during your path, nothing is written is stone, everything is changeable.

2.- Deal with your inner critic.- this is the little voice in your head that tells you that you´re not able to accomplish x, y ,z, that you´re not good enough, that what you have to share is not worthy, that you´re too old, too young, to busy, etc. If you realize that this voice exist only in your head, and that what is says is based in fear to protect you , then you can understand it and say to it that it´s OK but that you´ll go ahead. Feel the fear and do it anyway, what´s the worst thing that may happen?

3.- Have a plan.- if you do not have a plan, you plan to fail. You need to have clarity in what you need to do to accomplish your goals, so you need an action plan with specific actitivities, deadlines & resources.

4.- Do the most difficult things first .- Every day, first thing in the morning, review your to do list, and do first the things that are more difficult to you, then review that list during the day and check off everything that has been accomplished. The feeling of finishing a day with a list with most check offs is wonderful.

5.- Do not have more than 3 projects at the same time.- Sometimes we want to do many things, we have a kind of entreprenurial add, it´s horrible. You cannot focus properly and when the time goes you have not got anything, so to keep on track less is more, don´t overwhelm yourself with a huge list of projects, focus just in 3.

6.- Get an accountability partner or a coach.- Accountability is key to avoid procratination, when you have someone to keep accountable with, you tend to be more productive and achieve your goals. You have to do it yourself, but you can´t do it alone.
